Mt. Bintuod - Sierra Madres' Highest

Sierra Madre mountain range, they say that this is the largest remaining area of old-growth tropical rainforest and the longest mountain range in the country. And only a handful few only knows where its highest peak is located. We did our 1st survey of the area way back in 2015, and we learned that there are some biologist who have visited this place already to do a research work , ours is just adventure.

I'll be sharing these photos of our 2nd exploration that we did on January 16-17, 2016.

We are lucky that the jeep is not jampacked, usually it is overloaded with goods from the town that they will be bringing to mountain communities.

This is the only pitstop to have break from the long arduous journey. Owned by a bongalot family, a once fierce head hunting tribe of this area, but that was way long long ago, the community here are now friendly. Famous for their home-made pancake and don't expect it to be the classy one. This is were we opt to go toploading, you don't want to missed the scenery of Sierra Madre.

You better have a reserved battery pack.

We arrived late already, yet we still push for a night trek and along the stream we witness fireflies all over a tree, it's like bringing magic into a summer night. I'll make sure next time to take a photo.

Our emergency campsite, and thanks to our Japanese Chef for preparing breakfast before we start the assault.

These are the photos along the trail to summit.

Mt. Bintuod should be change to Mt. Bintuhod.

Yet still, this should be the right thing to do, just smile.

Hooray! The summit is somewhat similar to Mt. Isarog, still covered with vegetation.

The Bintuod Pinetree.

The Highest Peak of Sierra Madre.

Correction: While doing their 3rd or 4th recon, the true summit has been discovered by our friends Rogemar and Mina with the help of a mobile GPS app .

Here is "Mina" on the bridge connecting Fellaway the land of the Bugkalot - Ilongot headhunting community.

and this is Rogemar.

Thanks everyone for reading my not so good adventure stories.
